- Screen narration can be enabled on first launch and covers menus, map, inventory, shops, tutorials, popups, interaction prompts, and a lot of gameplay information.
- Pathfinder guides the player to objectives on land and at sea; ship autopilot can follow the route while sailing.
- The Audio Glossary and helper audio cues cover loot, climbing, collision, the wheel, aiming, and several ship events.
- The map can be used without a mouse cursor by cycling points of interest and quests, according to Ubisoft and practical testing.
- Eagle Vision, larger text/icons, HUD backgrounds, contrast settings, color-blind options, and visual-effect toggles help low-vision players.
- Separate difficulty settings for naval, ground, activity, and stealth play, skippable QTEs, unlimited oxygen, fewer desync failures, and extensive control customization can lower barriers.
Known limitations
- This is not confirmed as fully blind-playable. Victor Dima says Navigation Assist is not reliable enough and that he needed sighted help to continue.
- Naval combat is the largest barrier: target lock and aiming at ships are not consistent enough for totally blind players in the blind-player test I checked.
- Game Accessibility Nexus’ low-vision test praises the game, but also flags difficult naval combat, weak aim/color distinctions, and near-impossible Sea Shanty collectibles.
- I did not find confirmed audio descriptions for cutscenes; Victor Dima specifically misses this for the story.
- Norwegian screen narration, Norwegian voice, and Norwegian audio descriptions are not confirmed. Test on your own platform before buying if you need full no-sight playability.
