RS Games 2.3 returns to Linux and runs natively on Apple Silicon

In short

The RS Games client now has a self-contained Linux build and runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Windows players can once again choose a standard installer.

Version 2.3 is the first RS Games release with native support for M-series Macs. The Linux build for 64-bit x86 systems no longer needs Python or other system packages, while the Windows installer creates a Start menu shortcut and can be removed through Programs and Features. Support for 32-bit Windows and Linux has ended.

The update also changes voice chat. Control+Alt+A opens settings where players can choose microphone and playback devices, test the microphone level, and save the selection. Voice chat now requires version 2.3 or later, while games, text chat, and sounds continue to work between different client versions.

RS Games lists direct output to screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver. The client displays no text on screen, so players who do not use a screen reader should choose the web client. The Mac app is currently unsigned; its first launch must therefore be approved under Privacy & Security in System Settings.
