Watchful Eye narrates the Minecraft Bedrock world on iPhone

In short

Watchful Eye is a free add-on that automatically narrates the surroundings in Minecraft Bedrock. Its blind developer has tested it on iPhone, but placing blocks and parts of setup remain difficult without sight.

The add-on announces which compass direction the player is facing and warns before drops and pits. It also detects cave entrances, rare ores, and nearby enemies. During Elytra flight, a warning sounds as the ground approaches.

Watchful Eye was introduced on 13 October and is available free as a .mcaddon file from CurseForge. After importing it, both the Behavior Pack and Resource Pack must be activated in the world settings. Minecraft’s own Text to Speech for UI and Text to Speech for Chat settings must also be enabled.

The developer plays and tests on iPhone. He expects the add-on to work with Bedrock on Android, Windows, and consoles, but has not tested those platforms. On iPhone, the long world-settings list can be difficult to scroll with built-in text-to-speech; connecting a controller is the currently documented workaround. Minecraft can narrate crafting menus, but the add-on does not solve precise block placement for a blind player.
